It was nice while it lasted

Well, my son just had to have the hat I just made.
He is 7; I will never see it again-but he sure looks good in it!

But wait! There's more............

My 5th pattern is up on Ravelry today-nice and green for St. Paddy's day too!

From back to front- "33" hat in Super Bulky Yarn, "42" Hat in Chunky yarn and "54" in Worsted wt. yarn.
And no there is nothing wrong with your monitor-the Malabrigo yarn had a stripey thing going on.

I can see the forest through the trees-or I got alot done this week

Well I am feeling pretty good, I just completed my Jindabyne cowl and it's blocking and I can't wait to sew on the buttons and see how it looks. Even though it's almost spring I will get alot of wear out of it.
I also posted a 3rd pattern on Ravelry-my 33 row/round super bulky hat.
and am currently working on writing up the mods to add a brim and then try it out in chunky and worsted weights.

Yes, Yes I am all that

So, I don't know what we have done to dodge the snow bullet but it's the beginning of March and there is NO SNOW. It was 50 degrees again today and sunny and quite spring like.

And next weekend is daylight savings-so clocks go forward and it should be light out until 6:30 ish-sweet.

So I did it. I finished knitting/photographing my cowls and wrote up the pattern this weekend.

My husband in all his awesomeness brought home MS office 2007-so now we can write and power point and PDF like there is no tomorrow. (Or, like there is a deadline tomorow ...which is usually the case.) He also replaced our keyboard yesterday because it drank my coffee.
Enough said.

I was tinkering around with feather and fan and came up with a combo that creates a spiral-and the best part is that it is fairly mindless to knit when you use stitch markers.

I have requested to be added as a designer on Ravelry so I can start offering free patterns, it's been really nice to hear from people that are interested. Yarnies are awesome.

*update! The pattern is now up on Ravelry you can find me as izodgrrl! Yea me!

Impatience leads to inspiration

Here’s the thing; I don’t wear hats. I can’t wear hats. I look like a dork in hats. I have the smallest forehead (it’s a 2-head really) and bangs and when I tuck them under the brim of a hat they are ruined for the day when the hat comes off.
I’ll spare you the image of how I look with my bangs squished out from under the brim.
Even those really cool “slouch” hats that look amazing on everyone-don’t work for me because I have straight hair and they always slip off.

The irony hasn’t escaped me- I love to knit hats and have easily made about 100- giving them all away when someone says, OMG, I love that! Can I try it on? Well of course you can. Naturally they look fantastic and I am consoled by the fact that hatty has found it’s home.

So where does that leave me? Pathetically sporting a 2-head with bangs and stick straight hair in the middle of winter in Maine?

I started making a cowl out of my favorite yarn because I wanted something quick and mindless to knit and because I wanted to wear this yarn in this color as soon as possible.

About ½ way in I stuck the tube on my head to make sure it would fit and low and behold, it was a pretty good brim. It was loose enough that my bangs could tuck under but not get all weird when the hat came off. It’s not slouchy but it’s comfy.

Dare I say it rates pretty low on the dork meter too.

Can a girl get a cookie over here?

Forget birds and green grass; a Girl Scout cookie order form is the first sign of Spring.
I joined Ravelry about 2 years ago and it has completely changed the craft for me.
If you are a knitter or crocheter and have not heard of this amazing site, crawl out from under that rock and take a peek. Go ahead, I'll wait. http://www.ravelry.com/
